Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using the FlashShare Chrome extension ("the Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not install or use the Extension.

These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you and FlashShare. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Description of Service

FlashShare is a free Chrome browser extension that enables users to:

  • Share YouTube video links, timestamps, and personal notes with friends directly from the YouTube player.
  • Receive shared videos in a built-in inbox panel on YouTube.
  • Build and manage a private list of friends (contacts) for quick sharing.
  • Receive real-time notifications when a friend shares a video with you.

The Extension integrates with YouTube's interface and uses Google Firebase for data storage and Google OAuth for user authentication.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use FlashShare. By using the Extension, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

Account & Authentication

FlashShare uses Google OAuth for authentication. By signing in, you authorize the Extension to access your Google email address, display name, and profile photo for the sole purpose of identifying you within the Extension.

  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account.
  • You agree not to share your account access or let others use FlashShare under your identity.
  • You can revoke FlashShare's access at any time via Google Account Permissions.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use FlashShare only for its intended purpose — sharing YouTube videos with friends. You agree not to:

  • Use the Extension to send spam, unsolicited messages, or harassing content to other users.
  • Share content that is illegal, hateful, threatening, defamatory, or sexually explicit through the Extension.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the Extension's source code for malicious purposes.
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or other tools to interact with the Extension in bulk.
  • Exploit any bugs, vulnerabilities, or errors in the Extension to gain unauthorized access to data.
  • Impersonate another user or misrepresent your identity.

Violation of these rules may result in immediate suspension or termination of your access to FlashShare.

User Content

When you share a video through FlashShare, you may attach a personal note or message. You retain full ownership of any content you create and share.

  • You are solely responsible for the content of any notes, messages, or media you share through the Extension.
  • By sharing content, you grant FlashShare a limited, non-exclusive license to store and transmit that content to your intended recipient(s) via our Firebase database.
  • We do not monitor, review, or moderate user-generated content. However, we reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms if brought to our attention.

Intellectual Property

The FlashShare name, logo, website design, and extension code are the intellectual property of FlashShare and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws.

  • You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Extension without our prior written consent.
  • YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC. FlashShare is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google.

Third-Party Services

FlashShare relies on the following third-party services:

We are not responsible for any changes, outages, or disruptions caused by these third-party services.

Availability & Updates

  • FlashShare is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
  • We may release updates, patches, or new versions of the Extension at any time. Updates may be delivered automatically through the Chrome Web Store.
  • We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Extension (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

  • FlashShare and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Extension.
  • We are not responsible for any loss of data, unauthorized access to your account (resulting from your own negligence), or disruptions caused by third-party services (Google, Firebase, YouTube).
  • Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to the Extension shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Extension (which is $0, as FlashShare is free).

FlashShare is a free tool provided in good faith. Use it at your own discretion.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Extension is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
  • Warranties that the Extension will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors or bugs.
  • Warranties that the Extension will be compatible with all devices, browsers, or operating systems.

Termination

You may stop using FlashShare at any time by uninstalling the Extension from Chrome. Upon uninstallation, all locally cached data (tokens, friends list) is immediately removed from your browser.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Extension if you violate these Terms, without prior notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Extension ceases immediately.

To request deletion of your data stored in our Firebase database, please contact us at the email address below.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Extension shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If a resolution cannot be reached, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of the developer's jurisdiction.

Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of FlashShare after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

For significant changes, we may provide additional notice (such as a notification within the Extension).
